You're not in this alone

“Movement is a medicine for creating change in a person's physical, emotional and mental state.” - Carol Welch

Our physical and mental health is deeply connected to how we move. Appropriate levels of strength, mobility, and endurance allow us to work, participate socially, and engage in the activities that make life meaningful.

But just like our emotional wellbeing, our bodies can become stressed, deconditioned, or limited over time — through injury, illness, pain, or periods of inactivity. When this happens, even everyday tasks can feel harder than they should.

Exercise Physiology provides structured, evidence-based strategies to restore movement, rebuild physical capacity, and help you regain confidence in what your body can do. It creates a supported space to strengthen, recover, and move forward with purpose.

What is Exercise Physiology?

Exercise Physiology is a clinical service specialising in movement-based rehabilitation for people experiencing limitations in strength, mobility, endurance, pain, or overall physical function.

Our Exercise Physiologists support:

  • Workplace injuries
  • Musculoskeletal injuries
  • Chronic disease
  • Post-surgical rehabilitation
  • Neurological conditions
  • Deconditioning following illness or inactivity
  • Chronic pain management
  • Psychological injury where movement tolerance is reduced.

If you, or a loved one, are experiencing any signs, now is the time to get support towards wellness.

Partnering with an Exercise Physiology

Exercise Physiology services support a wide range of physical health needs, including musculoskeletal injuries, chronic pain, reduced mobility, fatigue, functional limitations, and the physical impacts of both physical and psychological injury. Your Exercise Physiologist will take the time to understand the challenges you are experiencing and the goals that matter to you.

They will then create  a tailored, evidence-based rehabilitation plan designed to safely improve your strength, movement, endurance, and confidence.

Your Exercise Physiologist provides a supportive, professional environment where you can progress at your own pace. Together, you’ll work towards restoring physical capacity, managing pain, improving daily function, and rebuilding the confidence to return to the activities—and the life—that matter to you.

At Work OH&S also offers the Restore Program - an integrated program that combines psychology and exercise physiology to align therapeutic and physical goals, offering a structured and sustainable pathway to long-term wellbeing.

How can an Exercise Physiology help me?

Exercise Physiology provides targeted, evidence-based support for people experiencing pain, reduced mobility, deconditioning, or difficulty completing daily activities. Through thorough assessment, personalised rehabilitation, and safe, supervised movement progression, our Exercise Physiologists help clients rebuild strength, improve function, regain confidence, and return to the activities that matter.

What can I expect from my Exercise Physiology services?

  • Comprehensive physical assessment of subjective/objective data, physical and functional tolerances, pain triggers to understand what is limiting recovery.
  • Personalised rehabilitation plans tailored to each client’s needs, which may include:
    • strength and conditioning
    • mobility and flexibility training
    • functional movement retraining
    • cardiovascular and endurance training
    • fatigue and pacing strategies
    • balance and coordination work
    • chronic pain self-management strategies
  • Safe, supervised exercise, delivered at a clinically appropriate pace to support progress while protecting your injury.
  • Behaviour change and routine support to overcome fear of movement, low motivation, or reduced confidence.
  • Functional capacity and return-to-work preparation through graded exposure, task-specific training, and work conditioning.

Who can benefit from Exercise Physiology services?

Exercise Physiology offers a clear and supportive pathway to improving physical capacity, managing pain, and restoring confidence. With the right guidance, clients can rebuild strength, enhance daily function, and return to meaningful activity safely and sustainably.

You may benefit from EP services if you experience:

  • Ongoing pain or restricted mobility
  • Difficulty completing daily tasks
  • Reduced strength, endurance, or balance
  • Fatigue during simple activities
  • Stiffness or deconditioning after time off work
  • Barriers returning to exercise or activity
  • Physical impacts of psychological injury
